For over 30 years Derek has been in the Chicago music scene and rubbed elbows with a handful talented artists such as Richard Patterson, Michael Manson, Michael Ross, Audley Reid, Ray Silkman, Skinny Williams, Paul Wertico, David Garibaldi, Omar Hakim, Sonny Emory, Art Porter, Buddy Guy, Ramsey Lewis, Roy Ayers, Tom Browne, Bernie Mac, David Sanborn, Tom Scott, Earl Klugh and Roger Ebert. He is skilled in Jazz, Funk, Rock, Pop, R&B, Blues, Gospel, Calypso and Reggae music.

Derek is very well known in the Chicago music circuit, and has made special guest appearances in over 22 cities and 8 countries. His vast knowledge of studio recording and live performances keep him in demand and a well-rounded drummer.

There isn’t a bar, club, restaurant, music venue, hotel, golf resort, street fair, wedding, or private party where he hasn’t performed.
